Write, even when you don't feel profound; paint, even when you don't
feel artistic; take pictures when you need to practice seeing through
another lens; read to hear voices that speak wisdom or joy or humor or
humanity into your soul; dance, even if no one else joins in; sing at
the top of your lungs, even when no one else knows your song. Forgive
yourself if you don't feel perfect at any of these things, because every
small offering of art offered in love--whatever form, whatever shape,
adds beauty to the world. And friend, we need to continue to add beauty
to the world, to let it grow and rise up against the ugliness that
threatens to continue to speak darkness and bleakness into the
individual and collective soul.
