Dangerous Drivers

August 5, 2012

We rented a four person pedal car, and the kids wanted to take turns driving.  Luckily, the young bicyclist that our kids ran over had befriended Bailey a couple of days before, so once he got over the shock of being knocked off his bike by the girls in one of their forays around the RV park, he didn't seem too mad (or hurt, thank goodness).  Looks like it'll still be awhile before we let any of our kids get behind the wheel of a car!

Another Day at the RV Park

August 4, 2012

The kids had such a good time, they wanted to hang out on the inflatables again.  Poor Danielle was so red and blistered that the only way I would allow her to join in was if she wore a t-shirt to cover her shoulders and a big hat to protect her face.  Note the expression on her face.  She is obviously proud of her very fashionable look.  I think she's channeling Gilligan.

Saying Goodbye to the Kiddos

July 11, 2012

After a short visit with Lisa and the kids, Riley and Emily saw me off as I set off on the journey back home.  We had a good visit--those kids are full of energy and are keeping Lisa on her feet!

Little Fishies

July 9, 2012

While I was visiting Lisa, I got to go with her to take the littles to their swim lessons.  Riley was super excited to show off his ability to jump off the high dive.  He was fearless!  I loved that he kept asking me, "Aunt Donna, did you get a picture of that one??"  Emily was a little more timid; her class stayed in the shallow end of the lap pool, mostly getting used to the idea of getting their little faces wet, blowing bubbles, and kicking their little feet while the teacher held them afloat.  I think it's amazing that with help from foster mamas like Lisa, these kiddos get to have experiences like this that they might not otherwise get to have.

The More the Merrier

May 13, 2012

My sister Lisa has embarked upon a new and very exciting chapter in her life.  For as long as I can remember, she has always wanted to either adopt or foster kids.  There is such a need for that in our world, and Lisa has always seen that need as a calling.  After a great number of checks and assurances in many forms (financial scrutiny, physical check up, personal interviews with social workers, background checks, home and auto inspections, just to name a few), she was cleared to have kids placed with her.  Almost immediately, Riley and Emily, brother and sister, met with Lisa for a few visitations before the actual placement.  There was an immediate connection, with Lisa and with Lisa's girls, and before long her family had grown by two.  I'm thrilled for her and and all the kids, and can't wait to meet my new niece and nephew.
