For literally months now, Nicholas has been fixated on going to Rio Grill for dinner. If you've never been to Rio Grill, it is an experience! They've got a great salad and sides all-you-can-eat bar and then all throughout the meal, severs come around with all kinds of tasty meats to serve--parmesan crusted pork, tri-tip, sausage, Brazilian steak, bacon wrapped turkey, just to name a few. They are all delicious! They serve you small portions of any of these foods that you like, for the duration of the meal. Believe me, it is an indulgence. We only go every once in a great while, but when we do, it really does satisfy the carnivore in all of us.
As good as the food is, an even better part of the birthday dinner was the laughing and the silliness. It's one of the things I love best about my family. We can be goofy and silly and fun--we love being together and being a family. (Lest you think that I live in la-la land, let me assure you that we are not all sunshine and roses. Sometimes we irritate each other. Sometimes we're not all in a good mood all at once. There might even be the raising of voices now and again--none of us is perfect. But the fact remains that we all genuinely like each other, and can have some great fun as a family--all of us. This night, celebrating Nicholas' birthday, was definitely one of those nights.)
